Roisin Dubh
The Róisín Dubh pub on Dominick Street, which opened six years ago, is regarded by musicians and music lovers as one of Ireland's top venues. Artists as varied as Altan, John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Ray Manzarek (The Doors), Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Steve Earle, John Prine, Martin Hayes, Guy Clarke, Dick Gaughan, Gary Kemp, Aslan, Arlo Guthrie and Mary Coughlan play there regularly as does folk singer, John Martyn, although it is three times smaller than his regular venues. He rates it as one of the finest clubs anywhere because of its unique "intimate" atmosphere, and says his Róisín Dubh concerts are among his best. Galway Arts Festival have used the Róisín Dubh as a venue over the last 3 years with Mary Coughlan recording her 'Live in Galway' album over seven consecutive concerts during the '95 Galway Arts Festival.
After extensive research, we believe that no other Live Venue at home or abroad provides the quality of live music free of charge like the Róisín Dubh in Dominick Street. With almost 450 live gigs per year The Róisín is unique among live music venues for this kind of quality music. So come in, buy a pint, find a seat and listen to the best music you are likely to hear anywhere.
